Biography of Young MC

Although his good looks and pop appeal would suggest he's beaten LL Cool J to the crossover punch, MC (Marvin) Young has pumped his own personality into some of rap's greatest across-the-board hits. "Bust a Move" and "Principal's Office," among others, hit harder than the similar work of Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, and the jokes last longer than the ones you'll find in The Fat Boys catalog. He also wrote Tone-Loc's smash single, "Funky Cold Medina" and co-wrote "Wild Thing."Despite his enormous pop success, Young M.C. tried for a more hardcore effect on What's the Flavor. The results were mixed, but the general reaction was he was much better doing light material than trying to sound hard. ~ John Floyd
