Biography of Yellowman

DJ Winston "Yellowman" Foster, a tall, lanky Jamaican albino, became the biggest star in the wake of Bob Marley's death in 1981. He released over four dozen records in 1982 alone and was the undisputed star of that year's Sunsplash in Montego Bay. Yellowman knows how to work a crowd to a frenzy, although he is highly controversial because of his homophobic, sexist lyrics and his extremely "slack" style of toasting, which have made him as many fans as detractors. He continues to perform internationally, but his recorded output has diminished to a trickle in the 90s. ~ Roger Steffens
