Biography of Underworld

Underworld began as a late-'80s electronic pop band -- with the emphasis on the pop. They released albums in 1988 and 1989, and then disappeared until vocalist Karl Hyde and guitarist Richard Smith recruited DJ Darren Emerson to spice up the band's tired formula. The trio released DubNoBassWithMyHeadMan on Junior Boy's Own in England in spring 1994, and TVT provided an American deal by the summer. ~ John Bush
