Biography of Trick Pony
Trick Pony, comprised of Heidi Newfield, Keith Burns, and Ira Dean, first gained notoriety with their debut single "Pour Me" in early 2001. The trio actually formed in 1996 after being introduced to one another by mutual friends. "We have managed to stay together through some rough times," Newfield said during an interview. "We faced rough financial times, we saw Keith through a divorce, we saw each other through a lot of different things. We've managed to hold it together. It's made us strong. We're a real strong unit." Trick Pony delivered two more hits; "On A Night Like This" was a number one smash while "Just What I Do" maintained the band's momentum. In 2002, the album went platinum and gained Trick Pony the "Top New Vocal Group" award from the Academy of Country Music. That same year, the trio released their second album. On A Mission appeared in November 2002. ~ Rick Cohoon
