Biography of Thomas Dolby
This British musician and producer was one of the first artists to explore the possibilities of synthesizers and digital samplers in a straight pop music context. Besides his dance hits "She Blinded Me with Science" and "Hyperactive!," Dolby has played on Foreigner's 4 album, produced albums for Joni Mitchell and Prefab Sprout, collaborated with George Clinton (on their respective solo albums and The Dolby's Cube project), and written music for the films Howard the Duck and Gothic. He began his career working with Lene Lovich (he wrote "New Toy" for her) and with Bruce Wooley & The Camera Club, a group that also featured Trevor Horn (Yes, Buggles), Geoff Downes (Yes, Asia), and Matthew Seligman (Soft Boys). ~ Scott Bultman
Biography of Dr. Fiorella Terenzi
An Italian physicist, Dr. Fiorella Terenzi recorded an album in 1991 consisting of music made by translating radio waves from space into notes. Hardly musical but interesting nonetheless, Music from the Galaxies interested the eccentric Thomas Dolby enough to feature Terenzi on two mid-'90s albums. ~ John Bush
