Biography of The Hollies
The Hollies's string of hits through much of the '60s is one of the most impressive of that decade. Like countless other British beat groups, they were drawn at the outset to American R&B, but their trademark vocal style from the Clarke, Hicks, and Nash front line, coupled with a unique and distinctive rhythm section, caused The Hollies to pull away from the pack quickly. Drawing on the songs of Graham Gouldman and ultimately their own, the group would reach its creative peak prior to losing the services of Graham Nash. The Nash-less Hollies continued through the '70s, charting huge international hits, and creating worthy albums. Still, The Hollies of the mid '60s contributed some of the most vital pop music of the era. ~ Steve Aldrich
