Biography of The Fabulous Thunderbirds

The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been through a number of personnel changes over the years, but the basic core of the group, led by singer/harmonica player Kim Wilson, remains intact, as does the band's Texas blues sound. Recent additions to The Thunderbirds include guitarists Kid Bangham, and Duke Robillard, and the band's recorded output since 1979 is not overwhelming. The band began recording for the Takoma label in 1979, and then switched to Chrysalis for three albums, one album for Columbia in 1982, and has remained with Epic/Associated since 1986. The band's Epic/Associated releases spawned the most hits for the band, and their releases up to 1990 include some brilliant work by guitarist Jimmie Vaughan. ~ Richard Skelly
