Biography of The Animals

A very important British invasion band, The Animals were grounded in blues and folk music with, if anything, greater intensity than The Rolling Stones. Lead singer Eric Burdon -- who later pulled the group into psychedelia -- and original keyboard player Alan Price were the most visible members, but Price's successor Dave Rowberry also contributed to their musical allure, and guitarist Hilton Valentine was consistently underrated. ~ Bruce Eder
