Biography of Dr. John
Dr. John (born Mac Rebennack) honed his skills playing '50s sessions during the heyday of New Orleans R&B. His solo work has alternately paid homage to his inspirations and incorporated those influences into his own distinct rhythmic roux. ~ John Floyd
Biography of Terence Blanchard
Trumpeter Blanchard was one of several fine New Orleans prodigies to emerge in the '80s. He became a star member of Art Blakey's Messengers in the early '80s and was a musical partner with fellow Crescent City musician Donald Harrison for a long period. The duo made a string of glittering, though musically conservative, releases for Concord and CBS before going their separate ways. Blanchard has it all: range, tone, ideas, facility, and confidence. See: Donald Harrison. ~ Ron Wynn
