Biography of Sharon Shannon

Sharon Shannon is a young, gifted accordion player from Galway. Her pared-down, speeded up and rocked-out approach to traditional music appeals to other artists as much as it does to her fans. It earned her a place in the Waterboys and in Christy Moore's band before she toured Europe and the U.S. with her own successful band. She issued her self-titled debut in 1989; Out of the Gap followed in 1995, Each Little Thing and Spellbound: the Sharon Shannon Collection both arrived on Green Linnet in 1997. The new millennium release, Diamond Mountain Sessions surfaced in early 2001. ~ Steve Winick
