Biography of Sandy Denny

From her debut with Fairport Convention in 1968, Denny has been one of England's most important folk stylists and a major influence in rock as well, with a striking alto voice and daunting compositional style. Prior to her accidental death a decade later, Denny recorded a brace of superb solo albums with her former Fairport stablemate, guitarist Richard Thompson, and her husband Trevor Lucas (d 1990). She left behind one classic song ("Who Knows Where the Time Goes"). Her major influence was Isla Cameron. ~ Bruce Eder
