Biography of Sade

Born Helen Folsade Adu, she grew up on Nina Simone and Billie Holiday records. She attended St. Martin's College in London and worked as a model before fronting a jazz band named The Pride. The other members are co-founder Stuart Matthewman on sax and guitar, Andrew Hale on keyboards, and Paul Denmon on bass guitar. Adu holds the distinctive throaty, smoldering voice of a chanteuse. ~ Bil Carpenter
