Biography of Rick Dees
Rick Dees has had a varied career as a disc jockey, TV personality, and producer. It was as a DJ at WMPS (Memphis) that he recorded "Disco Duck," which hit #1 at the height of the disco craze, bringing the Donald Duck-influenced character onto the dance floor. Dees scored followups with "Dis-Gorilla," "Eat My Shorts," "Get Naked," and the banned "Barely White" over the next few years. Most recently, he was the producer/star of the ill-fated Into the Night program, and he has hosted various radio countdown shows during his long career. Among his albums: 1977's Original Disco Duck, 1991's Best of Candid Phone and 1996's Spousal Arousal. ~ Larry Lapka
