Biography of Red Aunts

The hardcore band Red Aunts formed in 1991; although the group -- comprised of vocalists/guitarists Kerry Davis and Terri Wahl, bassist Debi Martini and drummer Lesley Ishino -- could barely play their instruments during their first few performances, they soon became a popular West Coast attraction. After signing to the Sympathy for the Record Industry label, the Red Aunts issued their 1994 debut Drag, followed a year later by Bad Motherfucken 40 O-Z. After a jump to the Epitaph label, the quartet issued #1 Chicken in early 1995; Saltbox appeared in 1996. ~ Jason Ankeny
