Biography of Randy Travis
Contemporary superstar Randy Travis is a neo-traditionalist swimming against the tide. In a time when the distinction between country and pop has all but disappeared, this man with the expressive and smooth baritone provides a link with country music tradition. Polite, un-hip, and respectful, he merely records beautiful songs, some of which ("On the Other Hand," "Forever and Ever, Amen," and the exquisite "He Walked on Water") should become classics. Enough fans apparently revere the traditional style: Travis's Storms of Life went gold faster than any other debut album in country history. His Heroes and Friends album (featuring duets with George Jones, Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette, and Roy Rogers) shows us clearly Travis's taste and reverence for the past. He is an oasis to fans of the traditional country sound. ~ David Vinopal
