Contemporary superstar Randy Travis is a neo-traditionalist swimming against the tide. In a time when the distinction between country and pop has all but disappeared, this man with the expressive and smooth baritone provides a link with country music tradition. Polite, un-hip, and respectful, he merely records beautiful songs, some of which ("On the Other Hand," "Forever and Ever, Amen," and the exquisite "He Walked on Water") should become classics.
