Biography of Mr. Big
Mr. Big was no more than a side project for bassist Billy Sheehan, who had just left David Lee Roth's band and was once an original member of Talas. Mr. Big was immediately considered a supergroup when they released their debut, simply because of Sheehan, but with Eric Martin (vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), and Pat Torpey (drums) they were simply a hard working metal band who loved to play loudly and were very good at it. Even as heavy as they are, they gained a huge audience when an acoustic ballad off their second album, "To Be with You," reached #1 on the Billboard singles charts in 1992, although later releases like 1996's Hey Man and 2000's Get Over It failed to repeat its success. ~ John Book
