Biography of Millie Jackson
Millie Jackson's salaciously uncensored raps have earned her a reputation as an X-rated soul artist who isn't afraid to tell it like it is. The Georgia native moved to New Jersey as a teenager, where she began singing. Debuting on wax in 1970 for MGM, Jackson moved to Spring Records the next year and embarked on a long string of soul hits, including "Ask Me What You Want" and "My Man, a Sweet Man" in 1972 and "Hurts So Good" the following year. Very few of Jackson's R&B chart items crossed over to pop playlists, but her ribald commentaries remain a staple of urban contemporary fare. ~ Bill Dahl
