Biography of Mikey Dread

Mikey Dread changed the face of JA radio (albeit briefly) in the late 70s with a post-midnight weekend program of weird sound effects, dub-wise mixing techniques, and almost no talk for hours. Of course he was fired. His cave-deep voice has a narrow range, but on record it penetrates to the core of heart-felt and conscious concerns. A tour with the Clash exposed him to US audiences a decade ago, and constant reissues and new material have kept him in the public eye. ~ Roger Steffens
