R&B singer Mary J. Blige, born in Atlanta and raised in Yonkers, NY, launched her recording career in 1992 with the million-selling Top Ten album What's the 411?, which contained the gold Top Ten pop hit "Real Love," one of five chart singles drawn from the album. After releasing an album of remixes of the songs from What's the 411? in 1993, Blige put out her second album, My Life, in November 1994. It hit the Top Ten. ~ William Ruhlmann
