Biography of MC Lyte

Brooklyn rapper MC Lyte provided some of the better comebacks and put-downs aimed at out-of-control male egos and libidos, and she's also quite funny. It's to be hoped that the pop tinges on Act like You Know are merely an alternative, rather than a primary direction. MC Lyte responded to fans questioning her direction on Ain't No Other, her 1993 album. This marked a return to the tough-talking, fat beats and no-nonsense personna that had characterized her most successful material. Bad As I Wanna B appeared in 1996, followed in 1998 by Badder Than B-Fore and Seven & Seven. ~ Ron Wynn
