Biography of Los Enanitos Verdes
Pop-rock band formed in 1979 in Mendoza, Argentina, by vocalist and bassist Marciano Cantero, guitarrist Felipe Staiti and drummer Daniel Piccolo. In 1993 Los Enanitos Verdes moved to Buenos Aires to start playing in small venues. A year later guitarrist Sergio Embroni and keybordist Tito Dávila joined Los Enanitos Verdes right on time to start recording its debut album. The following record was produced by Andrés Calamaro in 1986. It was called Contrareloj. With the release of 1988 Carrousel, the band started touring South America, reaching more than thirty cities and being presented as a rock star act at the Festival de Viña del Mar. By that time "La muralla verde," became a huge hit climbed to the top of the most important rock charts. In 1989, their album Habia Una Vez was released, and that same year Los Enanitos Verdes traveled to Central America, touring Honduras, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico where the band gained a growing number of followers. In 1995 Los Enanitos Verdes was invited to the Billboard's Latin Music Forum Showcase in recognition of its relevance in the latin music community. In 1998 the band signed up for PolyGram in one of the most relevant contracts in the argentinian rock history for being made in the U.S. instead of any local representation. ~ Drago Bonacich
