Biography of Judy Collins

Judy Collins came out of the early '60s folk boom in the wake of Joan Baez, and her voice, although not as powerful as Baez's, proved more expressive. By 1966, she'd hit the charts with a pop version of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now." Never as political as her contemporaries, Collins has successfully merged the pop, folk and classical elements in her background into a unique sound all her own, her only difficulty coming in the area of repertory. ~ Bruce Eder
