Biography of Johnny Bond
One of the singing cowboys, Bond first began playing the ukelele before switching to guitar. In the '30s, while playing with the Jimmy Wakely Trio, he began his long association with Gene Autry which lead to his picking up small parts and side-kick roles in a slew of films. In 1940 Bond had signed with Columbia Records for whom he recorded "Cimarron," "Divorce Me COD," "A Petal from a Faded Rose," and others. A proficient writer, he composed more than 500 songs, a book each on Tex Ritter and Gene Autry, and an autobiography. ~ Jim Worbois
