Biography of Jimmy Rogers
Rogers was a major contributor to the development of post-war Chicago blues in the '40s and '50s, both as a member of the greatest Muddy Waters band and as a recording artist responsible for some of the classics of the era himself. Rogers's warm style of Chicago blues always retained a strong Delta flavor. He is best known for his Chess recordings of "That's All Right" (1950) and "Walking by Myself" (1956). After sitting out most of the '60s, Rogers began performing again in the same style of old, and today represents that rare breed of Chicago guitarist who never adapted to the prevalent B.B. and Albert King styles of string-bending. ~ Jim O'Neal
