Biography of Jimmy Eat World
The Mesa, AZ-based emo band Jimmy Eat World comprised singers/guitarists Jim Adkins and Tom Linton, bassist Rick Burch and drummer Zach Lind, childhood friends who first collaborated in junior high school as a Metallica cover band. They issued their debut 7" on the Wooden Blue Records label in 1994, soon followed by a self-titled LP; after split singles with the likes of Christie Front Drive, Emery, and Blueprint, Jimmy Eat World signed to major label Capitol for their sophomore album, 1996's Static Prevails. A five-track EP issued on the Fueled by Ramen label heralded the subsequent release of their second Capitol effort, 1999's Clarity. Their 2001 album, Bleed American, was released by Dreamworks. ~ Jason Ankeny
