Biography of Dido
Dido, a sexy London blond bombshell with a sound comparable to Sarah McLachlan and Sinead O'Connor, started singing with various bands in and around London (and despite the fact that her brother, Rollo, told her not to give up her day job). Frustrated but determined, she eventually appeared on the debut album of Rollo's band Faithless. Their debut album sold five million records, and Dido toured with Faithless for the next two years. When she was back in London, she recorded demos of her own songs. On Faithless' next release, Sunday 8pm, Dido appeared on two songs, one of which incorporates her own "My Lover's Gone." In early 1997 Arista heard her demo tapes and invited her to an interview; she was signed soon after. In the summer of 1999 Dido played the second stage on the Lilith Fair tour. ~ Amanda Nusbaum
