Biography of Des'ree

With her second album, 1994's I Ain't Movin', soul singer Des'ree became a star. Des'ree's contemporary soul is smooth enough to fit into most urban contemporary play lists, yet it has enough grit and emotional style to attract fans of early-'70s R&B. Her first album -- Mind Adventures (1992) -- didn't attract an audience, yet her second record, 1994's I Ain't Movin', was a pop and R&B smash; thanks to the Top Ten hit "You Gotta Be," the record sold over a million copies.
