Biography of Charlie Feathers
Charlie Feathers was one of the first country artists to record for Sam Phillips at the legendary Sun studios. He was there at the birth of rock & roll. Marketed during his tenure at the label strictly as a country artist, Feathers recorded a superb collection of singles for labels like Meteor, King, Kay, and Philwood, all in a highly charged rockabilly vein. Championed by the European rockabilly collector community in the early '70s, he has continued recording for a variety of labels -- not varying, only improving, his original '50s style. Charlie Feathers is a superb stylist. His voice is a consummate instrument, full of nuances uniquely his own, whether he's rocking up a storm or singing the most mournful of country ballads. Though never commercially successful, Charlie Feathers nonetheless remains a shining example of raw American music at its finest. ~ Cub Koda
