Biography of Buddy Guy
This Chicago-based blues guitarist and singer has been described by Eric Clapton as the best of the best guitarists. His fiery, screechy, super-quick guitar technique is all his own, an amalgamation of guitarists he was exposed to as a youth in Louisiana as well as things he learned from a handful of Chicago guitar-greats. Now, after more than 30 years of performing and recording, he's finally getting his due and playing in theatres and concert halls around the world.Guy was discovered by Muddy Waters after he moved to Chicago from his native Lettsworth, LA. Over the years, Guy has recorded far too little, but among the gems in his discography are Damn Right I've Got the Blues, on Silvertone, The Complete Chess Studio Recordings for MCA, and his rare Atco Records release with Chicago blues-harp master Junior Wells, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells Play the Blues. ~ Richard Skelly
