Biography of Brand Nubian

One of the better Islam-oriented groups that popped up in the early part of the '90s, Brand Nubian released their debut album, One for All in 1991. Their religious fervor never dissipated into ranting, exclusionary dogma, and the beats are seriously funky. After their debut, Brand Nubian underwent some changes, the most notable being the departure of dynamic lead rapper Grand Puba. Their 1992 album In God We Trust didn't receive the same glowing reviews of One for All, yet it sold well. ~ John Floyd
