Biography of Black Box

Black Box is an Italian "house" dance music group made up of Daniele Davoli, Mirko Limoni, and Valeric Semplici, plus video model Katrin Quinol, that scored five U.K. Top 40 hits in 1989 and '90, including the chart-topping "Ride on Time" (sampled vocal by disco diva Loleatta Holloway) and the Top Tens "I Don't Know Anybody Else" and "Fantasy." Their 1990 album Dreamland made the U.K. Top 40 and went gold in the U.S., the same year that "Everybody Everybody" (vocal by disco diva Martha Wash) became their first U.S. Top Ten. "I Don't Know Anybody Else" made the U.S. Top 40 and "Strike It Up" hit the U.S. Top Ten in 1991. ~ William Ruhlmann
