Biography of Biz Markie

A productive member of Marley Marl's posse, Markie is a contemporary master of comedic rap. He doesn't have much to say, but songs such as "Picking Boogers" are worthy of The Fat Boys and "Spring Again" is a classic summer single. Biz Markie managed to dodge a potential career-ending bullet when a controversy involving a sample from Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again Naturally" was resolved. Markie had allegedly used the sample without permission, triggering a lawsuit. He gave his own spin to the controversy with the 1993 release All Samples Cleared. ~ John Floyd
