Biography of Ben Vaughn
Philadelphia-native Ben Vaughn first gained notice in 1982, when the critically acclaimed Morells recorded his song "The Man Who Has Everything." In 1984 Vaughn formed the Ben Vaughn Combo, which became a Northeast favorite playing his quirky songs, one of which, "I'm Sorry (But So Is Brenda Lee)," appeared on Marshall Crenshaw's Downtown album in 1985. Vaughn recorded two albums with the combo in 1986 and 1987 and has since made a number of solo albums, among them 1992's Mood Swings, 1994's Mono USA and 1997's Rambler 65. He also served as music director for television series including 3rd Rock from the Sun and That 70's Show, and won a Composer of the Year award from BMI. ~ William Ruhlmann
