Biography of Arch Enemy
With every member of Arch Enemy having the extensive background of being in a whole slew of other bands, guitar brothers Michael (formerly of Carcass, Carnage and Candlemass) and Chris Amott (ex-Armageddon), singer Johan Liiva (ex-Carnage and Furbowl), drummer Daniel Erlandsson (ex-Eucharist, In Flames, The End) and bassist Sharlee DiAngelo (formerly Mercyful Date, Witchery and Dismember) got together in 1995. Making their European debut with the 1996 release of "Black Earth, " Arch Enemy combined elements of progressive death metal at the speed of thrash which resulted in a small cult following in their home continent. Following the release of 1998's "Stigmata, " Arch Enemy got the attention from Century Media Records later on that year. Their third album "Burning Bridges" were the results of that deal along with a full-scale tour on both sides of the Northern Atlantic. ~ Mike DaRonco
