Biography of Anne Murray
This Nova-Scotian country-pop singer recorded her first album, What about Me, in 1969. A year later she found phenomenal success with her crossover hit, "Snowbird," a song that sounded country and did well internationally. Though her pop singles did well over the next couple of years, she had to wait until 1974 for her second #1, "He Thinks I Still Care." In 1970-1978, 20 of her songs reached the country charts, with four others landing on the pop charts. Then she moved more toward pop, recording such hits as "Broken Hearted Me," "Daydream Believer," "Another Sleepless Night," and "A Little Good News," which was a #1 in 1982, resulting in a Grammy. Anne has collected 28 Canadian Juno awards and four Grammys, along the way selling 11 gold and 9 platinum albums. ~ David Vinopal
