Biography of Al di Meola

Di Meola earned his early fame as a member of Return to Forever, but he's a versatile player equally capable of playing jazz, blues, rock, Latin, or classical. He started as a nine-year-old, then picked up the steel-string guitar at fifteen. Di Meola attended Berklee in Boston in the mid '70s, then joined Return to Forever in 1974. After that experience, Di Meola has led his own band, The Al Di Meola Project, and has toured and recorded with John McLaughlin and Paco De Lucia.
