Biography of Above the Law
The Los Angeles rap crew Above the Law consists of the Cold 187um (Gregory Hutchinson), KM.G the Illustrator (Kevin Dulley), Go Mack (Authur Goodman), and Total K-oss (Anthony Stewart). On their records, Above the Law mix hard-hitting tales of urban violence with explicit sex talk and/or commentary. The group released their first album, Livin' Like Hustlers, in 1990; they remained a prolific presence throughout the decade, with subsequent releases including 1993's Black Mafia Life, 1994's Uncle Sam's Curse 1996's Time Will Reveal, and 1999's Forever. ~ Ron Wynn
Biography of Frost
Born Arturo Molina Jr., Hispanic rapper Frost recorded under the name Kid Frost until 1995. Though Frost was raised on military bases in Guam and Germany, he spent the bulk of his upbringing in East Los Angeles, CA. He started rapping in 1982 and was inducted into the local Uncle Jam's Army as the West Coast took music cues from the Bronx. Over the years, Frost has had a major role in helping Hispanic rappers, specifically in 1991's Latin Alliance project. In 1997, he released his first full-length through Virgin Records, When Hell A. Freezes Over. Two years later, the first volume in the That Was Then, This Is Now series was released, the second proceeded a year later. ~ Diana Potts
