Supported Blackerry Devices

Introduction

Depending on your network configuration, you may need to make changes to allow nuTsie to activate & play music from your playlists.

If you constantly receive network connection errors after launching nutSie, it is likely that your phone is not configured to allow 3rd-party applications to connect to the internet.

Devices deployed in corporate environments may be configured to allow browsing, but not allow applications to access the internet. If this is the case, you will need to contact your systems administrator and request that they change the settings in your BlackBerry Enterprise Solution (BES). Note that nuTsie opens a direct HTTP connection from the handheld, instead of using the Mobile Data Service as a proxy.

APN Settings

The TCP settings on your handheld also need to be set to allow applications to access the internet. Note that in order to access the TCP settings, you must have OS version 4.2 (nuTsie requires this version) or higher installed. To check your handheld OS version from the main screen:

go to Settings -> Options -> About.

For information about updating your handheld OS, check with your carrier. Additional information can be found at several BlackBerry user forum sites,
including:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/1871-blackberryos-4-x-download-faq-upgrade-downloads.html

Check your TCP settings:

main -> Settings -> Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP
If they haven't already been set, enter the APN values appropriate for your carrier. Again, check with your carrier, or BlackBerry user forum sites for more information:

As examples, here are settings for Cingular & T-Mobile BlackBerry handhelds:

Operator GPRS APN Username Password
Cingular WAP.CINGULAR WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM CINGULAR1
T-Mobile wap.voicestream.com [blank] [blank]

NOTE:
  • nuTsie requires OS version 4.2
  • After verifying your APN settings, you should at least power off and then power on the device. If this doesn't help, perform a hard reboot (remove battery, wait a few seconds, then reinstall battery) before trying again.
  • Make sure device is in a good data coverage area at time of download. Inconsistent connectivity may impact downloaded data and result in a variety of symptoms (e.g., invalid file).
  • Browser content mode: Change the Content Mode in your BlackBerry browser to "WML only". Start the Browser application, then press the menu button -> Options -> Browser Configuration -> Content Mode.
  • Try using your "Internet Browser" or "WAP Browser" to do the download instead of the default "Blackberry Browser". Start the Browser application, then press the menu button -> Options -> Browser Configuration -> Browser.
  • Pinstack Alliance
