Burn Trail Of The Week: Danity Kane/Diddy

Posted by nuTsie Guy Mon, 17 Mar 2008 20:36:00 GMT

Danity Kane, the all-female R&B group (and "stars" of MTV's Making The Band 4), are releasing their not-so-anticipated CD "Welcome To The Dollhouse" this week.

How fitting that a CD released by 5 of Diddy's personal puppets references the fact that they are, themselves, both fake and plastic.

How many times can Diddy do this, really? I realize the right answer is probably "until he stops making boatloads of money for doing it", but I am asking on behalf of people who still prefer to music they enjoy to be written by the actual artist.

Diddy's show is responsible for (besides Danity Kane) bubble-gum boy band "O-Town", dysfunctional rap group "Da Band" , "Day26" (or as I like to call them: New Edition, Jr.) and "Donnie J.", a dude so lame he makes Lance Bass look like Jean Claude Van Damme in "Lionheart".

So, Puff Daddy, go back to your matching sweatsuits with Mase, making lackluster albums under your own name, and being a sidekick for someone who is clearly more talented than you. Do whatever you want, just stop using pretty faces and the young MTV demographic to make yourself rich(er).

Burn Trail Of The Week: Randy Jackson

Posted by nuTsie Guy Mon, 10 Mar 2008 17:56:00 GMT

So, Randy Jackson has gotten up from the table of Idol judgment and Coca Cola cups to produce "Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol. 1", an album chock full of "stars" (including Richie Sambora at the ripe age of 83, John Rich and the legendary...Barbi Esco?), releasing tomorrow, March 11th.

So, in honor of this moment in music history, I have decided to review the album for you, a la Randy Jackson himself:

"Yo dawg, Randy, you know, it wasn't that tight dawg. You know for me, it just isn't your best, know what I'm sayin', dawg? This is a mad game out here, and you got to put it down every time, feel me? Dawg?"

All that is missing from this musical gem is that duet with Seacrest himself. I mean, hell, what is he waiting on?

Burn Trail Of The Week: Soulja Boy

Posted by nuTsie Guy Mon, 03 Mar 2008 19:55:00 GMT

Ok, I know. Everyone loves that stupid Soulja Boy dance. Everyone knows it, has done it, and has taught it to someone else. NOW STOP IT. Soulja Boy is a sombrero and a shot of tequila away of being 2007's version of the "Macarena".

And what does Soulja Boy (real name DeAndre Ramone Way) follow up that musical gem with? A song called "YAHHH!", in which the Soulja Boy ditches school and growls "YAHHH, trick, YAHHH!" at hypothetical fans, music execs and "tricks" for the entire chorus. Brilliance.

I hope, for music's sake, that Soulja Boy's career has the same fate of Los Del Rio, and when we hear "Crank Dat" (which he said in this interview that it took him AN HOUR to make) or "YAHHH!" in 2012, we'll want to stab ourselves in the ear with the nearest sharp object. So, DeAndre, just retire early. No more collabs, no more cute dances, no more shitty music videos that remind me of those damn California Raisin commercials. Maybe a nice jail sentence is what you need. Run over a "trick" in the Bentley you don't deserve or something, just go away. Now. Please.
