So, Randy Jackson has gotten up from the table of
Idol judgment and Coca Cola cups to produce "Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol. 1", an album chock full of "stars" (including
Richie Sambora at the ripe age of 83, John Rich and the legendary...Barbi Esco?), releasing tomorrow, March 11th.
So, in honor of this moment in music history, I have decided to review the album for you, a la Randy Jackson himself:
"Yo dawg, Randy, you know, it wasn't that tight dawg. You know for me, it just isn't your best, know what I'm sayin', dawg? This is a mad game out here, and you got to put it down every time, feel me? Dawg?"
All that is missing from this musical gem is that duet with Seacrest himself. I mean, hell, what is he waiting on?

As a music enthusiast, every once in a while I like to take a step back and evaluate the music industry.
I did that today. I sobbed like an 11-year old girl who got denied Hannah Montana tickets.
Why? Because movies and television dictate what people listen to now more so than ever, and most of the time it is dumbed down, mass produced pieces of garbage. Case in point: American Idol has its seventh season premiere tonight. God help us all. Tens of millions of viewers will tune in to see (usually) talentless tweens (Does anyone remember Sanjaya?) belting out songs written by people who knew what it meant to make meaningful music.
Now don’t get me wrong…watching people screw up songs in auditions is great. I can watch that all day. My problem comes in when they have the remaining 12 finalists butcher Queen songs at full throat.
There are 5 songs from American Idol albums Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Jordin Sparks in the iTunes Top 100 right now, as well as dozens of other songs from the screen, big and small. “Bodies” by Drowning Pool has charged up the charts (again). Originally released in 2001, the song has resurfaced after being featured in the new trailer for Sly Stallone’s newest Rambo. Alvin and his crazy chipmunk friends are still in top 100, as is a song from the Juno soundtrack, songs from Guitar Hero 3, and Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana herself. If only they had some kind of device to combine TiVo and iTunes…
Thanks for reading, I am going to go plan my American Idol party with my friends Ryan Seacrest fan club.
